What’s Included: In this course we’ll be exploring basic hand building techniques which provide the building blocks for any form you can think of. This includes slab building, coil building, pinch pots, and using molds. Each piece you create will also act as a surface for a different decorative technique, including slip stencilling, wax resist, glazing, and textured surfaces.
There will be a selection of glazes on offer for you to use, and you will come away with a basic understanding of how clays, slips, glazes and kiln firings interact with one another. I will also provide you with guidance about the tools and equipment you will need to facilitate your new passion beyond the course, as well as suppliers and contacts.
Please note this course is hand building only, and will not include any time on a pottery wheel. The course price includes all materials, firings and 10 hours of tuition.
Course Structure: This course will run over 4 consecutive weeks, taking place on the same day and time every week, with sessions lasting 2.5hrs. There will be a maximum of 6 students per class, ensuring that you each get focused teaching time from me. Your final pieces will be ready for collection no later than 4 weeks after your final session.
Payments & Cancellations: Please book your spot and make payment via the Mudworks website, where you can also see their cancellation policy.
Location & Access: As of September 2024, I am moving studio from St Werburghs to Bedminster to become a member of Mudworks. I will therefore be running my courses under the Mudworks branding. Please note that this course will take place on the first floor of the building, accessed via stairs, with no alternative access.
