What’s Included: In this course we’ll be building on fundamental hand building techniques to create more ambitious forms. This will include slab building, coil building, and pinching. Each piece you create will also act as a surface for different decorative techniques, including the use of slips, sgraffito, carving, and glazing.

There will be a selection of glazes on offer for you to use during the course, and you will come away with an understanding of how clays, slips, glazes and kiln firings interact with one another. I will also provide you with guidance about the tools and equipment used on the course, as well as suppliers.

Please note this course is hand building only, and will not include any time on a pottery wheel. The course price includes all materials, firings and 20hours of tuition.

Course Structure: This course will run over 9 consecutive weeks, including a half term break after week 4. The course takes place on the same day and time every week, with sessions lasting 2.5hrs. There will be a maximum of 6 students per class, ensuring that you each get focused teaching time from me. Your final pieces will be ready for collection no later than 4 weeks after your final session.

Location & Access: As of September 2024, I am moving studio from St Werburghs to Bedminster to become a member of Mudworks. I will therefore be running my courses under the Mudworks branding. Please note that this course will take place on the first floor of the building, accessed via stairs, with no alternative access.
